Removing your old insulation is just as important as installing new insulation. Removing your old insulation improves Air Quality in your home, prevents mould & mildew buildup and improves the heating/cooling efficiency of your home.
Some dated roofs or even newer ones leak onto the insulation when the snow melts or it rains. Mould can grow when temperatures fluctuate, causing your attic's insulation's efficiency to diminish.
Where there can be rodent and bed bug issues in the house, It is strongly advised that your insulation be removed and replaced with a healthier, more effective solution because of the health risks related to these and other animals/insects.
In order for some work to be done in your home, existing insulation may need to be removed in order to complete it.
If you've recently suffered fire and smoke damage within your house, or have a constant smoke odour, it might be trapped inside the fibres of your attic insulation. To get rid of the odour altogether, replacing the insulation is a necessary step.
Insulation may need to be replaced if your home is older and suffers from heat deprivation during Ontario winters. Builder-installed insulations commonly degrade and lose their insulating ability over time. We'll take out your old insulation and replace it to save you money and maintain the heat in your house.

This is the result of mould and water buildup occurring from inadequate insulation that causes attic moisture due to blocked or Insufficient ventilation, Improper exhausting of bathroom fans, dryer vents and roof Issues/leaks.
The first step is to inspect your attic and look for visible signs of habitation by rodents or other wildlife and their feces.
The next step is to capture or scare off sightings of wildlife and boarding up any openings for animals to re-enter. This will prevent damaging timber and insulation material either, through the waste they produce or by chewing of wooden appliances.
The final step is to remove contaminated insulation and excess feces to prevent household members from getting sick as a result of the diseases that these animals may transmit.
Existing attic insulation settles, requiring the installation of new insulation or the removal of old attic insulation. The exposed attic floor studs are the first thing you see if your attic hasn't been insulated in a while and even though the previous insulation still has the same R-value, this indicates that your attic requires extra insulation.
Mould development and insect attraction are common in older fibreglass attics which are a result of water damage, insect or rodent infestation. If you see a lot of dust around your air registers or are worried about the quality of the air in your house, attic insulation should be removed. The attic floor should then be sealed before installing new attic insulation.
