It is, to put it simply, "insulation plus sealant". Spray polyurethane foam insulation serves as insulation, an air barrier, and, in some situations, a vapour barrier. It is a stiff cellular plastic with over 95% closed cells. Any building's comfort levels will increase and energy expenses will decrease thanks to spray polyurethane foam insulation.

To some extent, all manufactured materials will off-gas. The CAN/ULC S705.1 Material Standard-compliant medium-density spray polyurethane foam is the only building product that has undergone occupant testing. 

Medium-density spray polyurethane foam insulation can only be installed into buildings by trained, certified, and licensed installers, ensuring expert and reliable installations. The SPF Quality Assurance Program is used by the Canadian Urethane Foam Contractors Association Inc. to educate, accredit, and licensed installers.

The installer must be employed by a Licensed Contractor who is in charge of making sure all CAN/ULC S705.2 Installation Standard criteria are met as well as all safety and building code requirements are followed.
